Interested in training as a Volunteer Instructor with Heartstart Ayrshire & Arran? This provides a brief overview of the role:
No previous qualification of first aid is required, all necessary training is provided.
You must be over 18 years of age.
You must hold a full current UK Drivers Licence and have use of a car.
A volunteer Heartstart Instructor is trained to teach the Heartstart course, they must attend a training session and then work with the training supervisor and other experienced instructors until they feel competent to work on their own.
Taking set-up/clear-up and travel time into account, attending one community session may take 2-3 hours of the Instructors’ time. The number of sessions our Instructors’ attend varies greatly but we do hope you will be able to attend at least one session per month. To maintain sector skill standards, it is a requirement that you attend a minimum of 6 sessions per year.
One of the important roles you will play as an Instructor, is promoting the Heartstart training session to organisations within your local area. In addition, our office will contact you with requests we have received, to ask for your availability to attend as an Instructor.
